1998年5月2日 HIDE被发现死于在家中,据警方调查死于自杀,死因是把毛巾撕成2半系在门上套在脖子上吊死.HIDE的追悼会在5月7日下午,地点在本愿寺,那一天,来到本愿寺的人多的让人惊奇,能看到的地方都站满了人,街道上,天桥上,附近大楼上,人们高举着HIDE的照片,海报,每一个人都在哭.

In 1993,Hide began solo （独奏）activity.In February 1994,Hide's first solo album was released,named Hide Your Face.In 1997,Hide was still active in composition,continuing his new solo creation,selling two live video and video clips after his new song Hi-Ho/Goodbye.
On 2nd May 1998,Hide was found dead in his home.After investigation,the police declared he committed suicide,strangling himself with a torn cloth hung around the door.Hide's funeral was in the afternoon on the 7th May,the location was Hogazi (本愿寺).On that day,the number of people who went to Hogazi was amazing,everywhere was filled with people,on the streets,on the overpass,in the buildings nearby.The people held Hide's photos and posters up high,and everyone was crying.
Even until now,the cause of Hide's death is still a mystery.Some believe that he committed suicide,but many more fans of Hide would not accept this.Throughout these years,I too also feel very contradicted regarding this problem.I really want to say that he didn't commit suicide,but we can never know his thoughts deep inside his mind.Guitar's should bands are very thin,hence usual guitarist will have shoulder pain,pulling the shoulder band,hence it's quite possible that it was an accident.I have always been hoping that it was such.Even though Hide is dead,but I think I will never forget the legacy that he has left in our memory.He has certainly influenced a generation.
