你那个改法不行,主要的问题出在语态,wallet是被包在报纸里面的,因此前面的wrap这个动作得用被动态.
另外一个问题,就是即使你改成了It was wrapped in newspaper and it had contained half the money...我感觉还是没有原句好.主要在于contain那个动作我觉得不需要用过去完成时,强调contain的动作在先,我更感觉那是一种状态,就是Sam发现钱包时钱包的一个状态（装着钱）,因此用一般过去式表示与那个时间点同步比较好.至于说前面wrap那里用过去完成还是一般过去,我觉得两者都可以吧.原文用had been wrapped是想强调在被sam发现前钱包被小偷包了起来,我却觉得用一般过去时来表示它被包着这样一个状态也OK.
